Bedfordshire UK safari encourages interactions with animals. Visitors can feed Lories, Goats or see Red River Hogs get fed. Children will love Mammoth Play Ark & Go Ape!

Woburn Safari Park in Woburn, Bedfordshire UK, promises an exciting day out for the family at great prices. The extensive grounds forming the Road Safari already excel expectations, where car visitors see dangerous animals like Amur Siberian Tigers up close. The Foot Safari opens one’s eyes further with animals at closer range.

Foot Safari: Australian Walkabout & Squirrel Monkeys

After a morning at the Road Safari, visitors will be keen to interact with animals. Bear feeding and Carnivore Breakfast take place at the Road Safari, but the Wild World Leisure Area (Foot Safari) features most of the feeding, for instance the Australian Walkabout Feeding. Some feeding times include talks, like the Lemur and Squirrel Monkey sessions. Friendly Squirrel Monkeys clamber over cargo nets and reach into holes for food with tiny hands. In the Australian Walkabout section, next to Monkey Business, visitors find plenty of cute Bennett’s Wallabies and Greater Rheas living tranquilly side by side. Wallaby mothers hide their joey babies in pouches, so occasionally a head may pop out! But Wallabies are camera-shy. The Greater Rheas however, are quite happy to be photographed.

Animal Encounters Area

The name says what it means! In the Animal Encounters Area, children can feed sheep and goats at a small charge. Visitors can observe exotic animals like Burmese Python, Common Marmosets, the sharp-eyed Lynx Cat and Mangrove Monitor Lizard through glass windows in separate huts. Besides friendly and dangerous animal encounters, visitors can also stand on a hillock to watch odd-looking Red River Hogs get fed!

Land of the Lemurs

Three species of Lemur reside here, near the Penguin World enclosure (where Humboldt Penguins swim freely). These Lemurs are worth a mention, as they are so friendly they hop on the fence at very close range! Visitors can spot large Black & White Ruffed Lemurs, Red-Fronted Lemurs or lesser seen Red-Bellied Lemurs. This area is not to be missed!

Lorikeets & Lories at Rainbow Landing

More animal interactions take place at the Rainbow Landing. Families watch Birds in Action or Birds of Prey shows elsewhere, but actually feed birds in this hut. Rainbow Lorikeets, Red Lories and Dusky Lories flutter about this habitat. For £1, one gets a cup of juice to feed these brilliant-coloured Lories. Lories dwell in groups and will boldly get close to feed, even on one’s arm! A wonderful photo moment.

Safari Restaurant, Mammoth Play Ark & Go Ape!

Woburn Safari Park is well accoutered with dining and children’s play areas. Visitors enjoy ecologically friendly meals, with hot piping food like Roast Chicken or Safari Breakfast at the Safari Restaurant or a yummy fast food option at Two by Two Restaurant. At Two by Two, children will go for the Mammoth Play Ark. This large indoors playground has stimulating sections like revolving tyres and holes to high and low mat-cushioned trails. Adventurous kids should head to Go Ape! for exciting Tree Tops Action. One can also grab ice-cream or hot dogs along the way.

Swan Boats & Great Woburn Railway

Laidback visitors, enjoy the sun whilst gliding out in a Swan Boat. A lazy way to enjoy the Wild World Leisure Area is to hop on the free train which goes through the Bactrian Camel paddock. One can spot the Somali Wild Ass more easily this way.

Woburn Safari Park’s Opening Hours & Fare

Woburn Safari Park opens 10am-5pm during summer and 11am-3pm in winter. The Wild World Leisure Area with the Foot Safari only closes at 6 or 6.30pm. Adults pay £10.50-£18.50 and children £8.50-£13.50, depending on season. In winter, Woburn Safari Park opens on weekends only.
